For the pond enthusiast, there are many avenues to this wonderful ecological paradise. Our climate and countryside often holds the prospect of spring water flowing beneath your feet. Meerly by uncovering the overburden of soils will often reveal a potential source of pure water undreamed of. Out of a hydrological search in this area, a quality pond site could immediately materialize. The rural landowner might discover a wet area or perhaps a trickle near the rocks. These could be signs of magic indicating a presence of an aquifer. Now that we have found our pond site, a test could be made with a shovel in dry season. If this provides the retention of water, digging could commence with the proper machinery, bringing about a permanent pond site. The pond could facilitate fish habitat and many species of water fowl.

If the pond retains a permanent level, a finger dock could be provided, and a  foot-bridge might connect a shoreline associated island. If the area receives adequate wind activity, a sandy beach would be a definite asset, or a boardwalk could be constructed.

In constructing a pond, the more water storage achieved, the more potential for trout habitat.
